Here’s my cover of the Princess Mononoke (もののけ姫) Theme aka Mononoke Hime. It’s been a while since I’ve covered a song from a Miyazaki/Hisaishi soundtrack, and this is one of my favorites. The original singer on the OST, Yoshikazu Mera, has such a pretty voice! I sang in a lower key than the original version, taking a few hours to sing drafts in several keys to pick which one feels good for the tone of my voice. Then, I created the instrumental with many synths, harps, strings, and sounds. I sang many different main takes before choosing this one, and added some harmonies, too!
It’s hard to put into words how these movies and songs make me feel! Just magical. Thank you for listening!
