My, then, pristine Husqvarna 181se bottom end mated with a 281XP top end 281. The 181 pistons are like hen's teeth. I'm saving the ones that are new or in really good condition for future build projects.
This is the saw that my buddy Dave in Ireland likes so much. With good reason, it BARKS!
There was a fair amount of monkey business required to get the merchantable tree on the ground and saved out. One short log and 3 long logs to the break. Another mid-length log in the top. Well worth the effort for the landowner. The mills were paying the highest price I had ever seen for logs that year.
They (Husqvarna) quit making the 181s in '85, not '87.
