Around 1,100 members of eight Adivasi rebel organisations formally surrendered weapons and ammunition in the presence of Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. This follows the signing of a peace pact between them and the central and state governments last year. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attended the arms laying ceremony in Guwahati.
