Going to your doctor can be a very objective and straightforward endeavor. “Fix me! Then I can be on my way.”
But at some point, you will feel like you are not getting the care you want or the treatment you need. Or the “Fix” just isn’t as easy as you’d hoped. In this talk, Dr. Khachikian helps us to look deeper, to identify the issues beyond the medical so we can guide the outcome--even when it seems out of our control. Dr. Stephen Khachikian is a board-certified ophthalmologist, specializing in cataract, corneal and refractive surgery. Dr. K grew up in Brooklyn, NY and obtained his Bachelor’s degree from Siena College in Upstate New York, and his medical degree at Albany Medical College. He continued his medical career in New York, completing his Ophthalmology Residency, and Cornea and Refractive Surgery Fellowship. For the last 10 years, he has been practicing Ophthalmology at the Black Hills Regional Eye Institute. He has authored numerous articles and textbook chapters detailing corneal and cataract surgery. He initiated the development of the Corneal and Cataract Research Division of the Eye Institute and is the Principal Investigator of many of the research trials. He lives in Rapid City with his wife, Hillary, and their 5 children. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
