How can injustice be exposed and put right in England Wales and Northern Ireland? Who can you turn to and how do you do it?
The Criminal Cases Review Commission (the CCRC - https://ccrc.gov.uk/) is the official, independent body that investigates potential miscarriages of justice. Their service is free and applications can be made directly by any person who believes they may be able to use their service. A lawyer is not necessary. The CCRC can look at cases where applicants believe they have been wrongly convicted or sentenced, provided they have already gone through the appeal procedures.
Helen Pitcher OBE is chairman of the CCRC and also has wide experience at board level and in coaching and mentoring.
