Paint like a Pro - How to paint a fence

Описание к видео Paint like a Pro - How to paint a fence

In this episode of Paint like a Pro, Johnny Warwick from Profile Painters shows you how to paint or stain a fence.

Johnny shares a few tricks of the trade to have you painting like a pro! He tells you the best tools to use, as well as step-by-step techniques to master painting or staining your fence.

If your fence is new, it doesn’t require any prep. If it's an older fence, before painting or staining, give it a good clean using Resene Moss and Mould Killer, followed by Resene Timber and Deck Wash.

Please note: When painting or staining a fence, avoid working in the heat of the day as this will cause the product to dry too quickly, leading to uneven finish.

You will need the following:
Resene Moss and Mould Killer (if fence is older)
Resene Timber and Deck Wash (if fence is older)
Resene paint or stain
Paint can opener
Paint pot or pail
Drop cloth
Wide paintbrush
Resene Fence Roller Kit

Steps for staining a fence:
1. When working with stain, give the container a good shake first, then open and stir. Pour your stain into a clean paint pot to work from.

2. Using a wide brush will make your job much easier. It’s all about technique – apply plenty of stain to your brush, then work it into the grain of the wood. Start at the top, moving your way down each fence paling, making sure you keep a wet edge.

Steps for painting a fence:
1. Give your paint a good stir. Pour your paint into a clean paint pot and then use that to fill your roller tray – this makes it a lot easier to manage than a 10-litre paint pail.

2. When it comes to painting, Resene sells a Fence & Deck Roller Kit, which is the perfect size for a fence paling. Load up your roller with plenty of paint and roll onto all surfaces, then cut in using a brush for any areas the roller can’t reach.

Enjoy painting or staining your fence with your newly gained knowledge and tips from Johnny Warwick from Profile Painters!
