In this film, Chief Executive & Exhibition Curator, Dr Susan Kay-Williams, shares the story of our acclaimed Lingerie Department in the 1930s.

In the 1930s, our Lingerie Department was booming, and we even had two separate stores on Brook Street and Davies Street, near Claridge’s, in central London. Our principal at the time, Lady Smith Dorian, would travel to Paris once or twice a year and bring back with her the latest designs which were then given a British twist by the RSN team. Our lingerie was a huge hit with the fashionable ladies of London and our twice-yearly sales at Park Lane drew in many customers including Her Majesty the Queen!
