Asian Trek at the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo. Filmed July 19, 2023.

Earlier this year, the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo combined the nearly 30-year-old Indonesian Rainforest, with the bran new Red Panda Ridge to create the all-new Asian Trek region. Your voyage now begins in Central Asia, with a simple loop the encompasses the entire Red Panda Ridge, home to Birds, Muntjac, and not one, but two kinds of Red Pandas! From, there you enter the pre-existing Indonesian Rainforest, but there’s still some newer attractions to be found, including a newer Clouded Leopard exhibit, the reimagined Rainforest Room, and the newly remodeled Tiger Forest. In the latter, we’ll have an incredible encounter with the Sumatran Tiger! The Indonesian Rainforest’s older section are still holding up well too, including a convincing indoor rainforest atrium, the Orangutan Valley, and tall caged habitats for the rare Javan Gibbon, and Wrinkled Hornbill. Altogether, this Trek embodies a unique blend of old and new, that rounds out to be one of the best Asian attractions at any zoo.
