"I had a little bit of drama around this piece in high school (who doesn’t have drama in high school, right?). I requested to perform this work with our orchestra and chorus, and it was granted. I spent almost four months learning it only to find out that orchestra conductor never ordered the music and, therefore, we wouldn’t be able to do it. Then in college, I won a spot to play a piano concerto with the orchestra, but my request to perform this work was declined on account of it being too difficult to rehearse due to the forces needed to perform it. The good news is that I got to play the Schumann piano concerto, which is my favorite piano concerto and easily in the top five greatest piano concerti ever written. I hope you enjoy this fantastic performance of a work that doesn’t get performed as often as it should." - Brian
