What is Decision Model and Notation (DMN)? in 100 seconds

The Decision Model and Notation (DMN) is a vendor-neutral, open standard, for Decision Management.

Using DMN, business analysts can define the decision requirements and formalize them with detailed decision models.
Technical developers can automate those decisions in any process, with a portable execution semantic.
Business stakeholders can manage and monitor those decision services thanks to the decision model definitions.
In a DMN model, a Decision Requirement Diagram represents visually the graph of business requirements that supports a given decision. You can find Input Data nodes for the inputs, Decision nodes, and reusable logic components, as well as helpful annotations.
Behind each element in the graph, you can find the supporting decision logic, typically in the form of Decision Tables.
You are not limited to Decision Tables however, as the DMN standard provides several types of boxed expressions; such as Context to define structural data, function Definition and Invocation, List and Relations.
Using DMN alone is useful to formalize business requirements and decision logic, but when using DMN in combination with other open standards makes it even more awesome: you can integrate DMN in a BPMN process, for any process Task that requires taking a decision before a split gateway.
You can also combine DMN with Processes AND Machine Learning predictive models, to achieve an explainable AI solution.
