Pro Drummers SWEAR By Six Lug Snare Drums...But Why?

Описание к видео Pro Drummers SWEAR By Six Lug Snare Drums...But Why?

When you think of professional snares, you probably think they have ten lugs, right? If it's good enough for top-of-the-line drums from Tama, Pearl, Ludwig, and the rest of the big manufacturers, then it's gotta be the best, right? I'd like to challenge that idea today and show you what you can do with a solid six-lug snare (even if it was the snare that eight year old kids used in the 1960s)!

Ludwig has made some of the most iconic drums of the last century – whether they're models made for the youngest drummers or the most seasoned veterans. Today, we'll explore a few different six lug drums from WFL and Ludwig that show why more lugs might equal more problems AND why less lugs could be a practical solution for you!

A few snare drums in today's video were generously loaned to me from MKE Drum Co. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Derek Mantz is a drum wizard with repairs, but he also sells some incredible vintage drums too. Find more on him and his business at https://www.mkedrumco.com/ .

The 13x3" WFL drum was loaned to me from a really great recently opened drum shop in Kenosha, Wisconsin, called UnDigital Drums. Find a bunch of great gear they have for sale on Reverb at https://reverb.com/shop/cymbal-centri... .

Audio was captured with two Universal Audio Apollo x8p interfaces using 1073 preamp modeling. Mics include:

- SE Electronics V-Kick (Kick In)
- Dr. Alien Smith Alien8 (Kick Out)
- Shure Unidyne III SM57 (Snare Top)
- Rode NT55 w/ Cardioid Capsule (Snare Top)
- Audio-Technica ATM650 (Snare Bottom)
- Sennheiser MD-421 (Each Tom)
- AKG C414 TLII Pair (Overheads)
- Apex 210B Ribbon into Soyuz Launcher (Room)
- Shure 588SB (Vocal)

I use Logic Pro X, Waves Audio plugins, and I love beef jerky.

Oh, and that cool mic cable? It comes from Sorry Cables in LA. – https://www.sorrycables.com/
