LUBBOCK, TEXAS — The Texas defense forced 25 turnovers and limited Texas Tech to 33 percent shooting in a 74-47 victory over the Red Raiders on Wednesday.

Aaliyah Moore and DeYona Gaston both recorded double-doubles in the game. Moore scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Gaston put in 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Madison Booker scored 18 points and recorded six rebounds and six assists.

Aaliyah Moore got an offensive rebound and putback and was fouled. She completed the three-point play to put Texas up 13-6 and cap off a 7-0 run. The Longhorns extended that run to a 15-0 run and held Texas Tech scoreless for 4:27 of game time. Madison Booker scored six straight points for Texas during the run that put Texas up 21-6.

The Longhorns ended the half on a strong note as they got a defensive stop and DeYona Gaston found Aaliyah Moore on an alley-oop to put Texas up 40-23 at the halftime break.

Texas held the Red Raiders to eight points over the final 10 minutes of the game to close it out.

Up next Texas will travel to No. 24/25 West Virginia for a game at 1:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, Jan. 6.

Postgame Notes

• The Longhorns improved to 14-1 on the season and 1-1 in Big 12 games.

• Aaliyah Moore recorded her second career double-double and DeYona Gaston her fifth career double-double.

• Texas held a 29-9 advantage in points off turnovers, 40-14 in points in the paint, 20-3 in second chance points and 39-11 in bench points.

• The Longhorns shot 17-of-20 (85 percent) from the free-throw line.
