In the later 2010s, the annual Oahu Club Men's Night Doubles, one of the Triple Crown Men's Night Doubles events, added a mixed doubles division to the event schedule. Boy oh boy, did lots of teams show up to play this one! With that decision, the overall event entries more than doubled as players wanted to take their chance at something new & exciting to the tournament. Everyone from high school juniors, current & former coaches, college players, & some former touring pros (living in Hawaii) came out to participate in the Mixed Doubles division.

In 2017, then current HHSAA state boys singles champion Andre Ilagan & Mid-Pacific standout athlete Tristen Bryant-Otake were poised to work their way through the draw & emerge as a dark horse team to win the event. Both of them sharp in skills from competing in juniors over the years had prepared them to take on the men & women of Hawaii night doubles events. These two powered their way through the earlier rounds & reached the finals without dropping a set, only to meet current HHSAA state girls singles champion Katreina Corpuz & multi-time Men's Night Doubles Champion Ikaika Jobe in the finals! Katreina & Ikaika also had lots of experience to pull from to make it this far in the event. Katreina, a former girls doubles state champion (also with Punahou), was no slouch to this arena. Although fairly new to the Night Doubles final stage of the event, Katreina was motivated to step onto the center court that night with a mission: become a Night Doubles champion as a junior player! Her partner, Ikaika Jobe, let his past history & doubles game speak for himself! Already a 5 time Kailua Men's Night Doubles champ as well as former doubles player on the ATP World Tour, Ikaika always would bring the heat regardless of who was on the other side of the net!
