Fire Walking Singapore 2023 -

Theemithi is a Fire Walking Singapore ceremony celebrated by Tamil Hindus of Southern India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Mauritius and Singapore. In Singapore the ceremony is held in Sri Mariamman Temple in Chinatown. Devotees walk 4km from Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple in Little India to Sri Mariamman Temple. They are led by the chief priest carrying the Karagam. The chief priest is the first person to walk across the fire pit, followed by other priests and devotees. Many priests will stand along the pit to help incase any devotee trip and fall on the burning charcoal. More than 3000 devotees took part this year.
