In part 4, follow along as I add a vent pick and vent pick holder to the cheek of this little iron mounted rifle.
This series is not a full tutorial but will reflect several of the interesting highlights that separate this muzzleloader from the others out there.
My friend Max has commissioned me to build him a 25 caliber Iron Mounted Tenessee Flintlock Longrifle to hunt squirrels with here in Indiana. Max is an old friend and it's been a long time since I've built a muzzleloader, so I was happy to bring the project into the shop.

We're building this out of several parts Max picked out and delivered including an L&R lock and an Ed Rail Barrel.

The walnut for the stock came from my woods, sawed the blank out on my woodmizer sawmill many years ago, the curl will make an excellent addition to this flintlock. I'll be forging the trigger guard and other pieces of hardware in my blacksmith shop as I continue through this project.

Iron Ram Forge is a blacksmith shop run by father and son pair Mike and Ethan Yazel. The duo operates out of their dual story workshop they built together on the family farm. In the basement they work in the hot shop with metal and glass, on the second story they work with wood to make carvings and furniture as well as fine hand engraving for jewelery and historic accoutrements.
