Jeep Gladiator Front Turn Signal (or DRL) Replacement

Описание к видео Jeep Gladiator Front Turn Signal (or DRL) Replacement

The Jeep Gladiator front turn signal replacement isn't too difficult, but you do need to deal with a surprising variety of fasteners!

Trim Removal Tool: https://amzn.to/2FqgS1w * (used in video)

Socket Set, 1/4": https://amzn.to/3oeiLoq * (where the 10mm used in the video came from)

0:12 • Differences Found on Different Trim Levels & Years
Some first generation Jeep Gladiators have a single bulb for the turn signal and daytime running lights, while the one shown in this video has a separate bulb for the DRL. If you have a model with factory LED turn signals, you will find something completely different back there, and will need different directions to remove the whole assembly, which we don't do in this video.

0:37 • Gaining Access to the Front Turn Signal & DRL Bulbs
You will have to move some wheel well trim out of the way to get to these bulbs. You will need to remove at least three trim panel retainers, each attached differently.

1:23 • Removing the Bulb
If you haven't put on your gloves already, put them on now! Make sure you replace the correct bulb here if you have the dual bulb model!

1:48 • Comparing The Bulbs
Since I had some options on hand, I was able to compare two LED bulbs and the original. Here are some of the bulbs used, as well as some other options I believe will be a good fit:
- - - LED Replacements - - -
Sylvania 7440 Amber LED: https://amzn.to/3OxwbHd * (SAME BRAND & PART NUMBER as what appeared in the video, but newer design.)
Diode Dynamics 7443 Amber LED: https://www.diodedynamics.com/7440-74... (Exactly what I used in the video. Works without a resistor.)
LASFIT 7440 Amber LED: https://amzn.to/3pONgSE *
- - - Incandescent Replacements - - -
Stanley 7440 Amber Incandescent: [Currently unable to find!] (OEM product)
Phillips 7440 Amber Incandescent: https://amzn.to/3OfHof3 *
Wagner 7440 Amber Incandescent: https://amzn.to/3BvCvad * (Note: 1 bulb, not 2)
Sylvania Silverstar Amber Incandescent Upgrade: https://amzn.to/453bOay *
- - - Why I Installed the Sylvania LED Instead of the Better Diode Dynamics Option - - -
I ended up not using my favorite design, the Diode Dynamics 7440/7443 bulb, because of a few reasons. This is not my vehicle, the vehicle using a 7440 (single filament) bulb won't use all of the LEDs available in a 7443 (dual filament), and this particular housing made the competition super close, so even if it was my vehicle, it made sense to keep the better bulb for a vehicle where it would perform better. I currently plan on using it in the rear of the 4Runner, but we will see.

2:08 • Install & Confirm Function
No matter what type of bulb you use, it's good to check that the light is working before you put everything back together. Perhaps a socket is burned out, a wire has been cut, or maybe the LED bulb needs to be turned around!
