The man who made the Russian Chess Academy happen in Mumbai - Praful Zaveri

In one of the most prime spots in Mumbai called Peddar Road existed a Russian visa consulate. In 2018 or so the visa work in that premise came to an end as the work was outsourced to a private company. So what could be done with that area? FI Praful Zaveri, who is a well-known organizer, trainer and author decided to make a case for a chess club to be started in the same area. It was a tall order as getting the necessary permissions was not going to be easy. However, after incessant work and determination, the Russian Chess Academy was launched in 2022. In April 2023 the first FIDE rating tournament was organized in the premises. We talk to Praful Zaveri about how he managed to achieve this and also what helps him to make such wonderful collaborations in the world of chess.
