In the eighth of the Special Editions to “Doctor Who: The George Brind Fan Series” (2013–2023) based on the well-known BBC sci-fi TV series “Doctor Who” (1963–), here is the eighth story “Thieves in the Night” which also served as the third episode of Series 2 when it was first released on YouTube on 24 November 2018. All stories in the fan series take place in creator of the series George Brind’s own unique “Doctor Who” reality and/or universe, and a strikingly different reality to the officially established one at that, in terms of writing new stories and ideas around what had been established on-screen in the official series up to November 2013.

After witnessing the death of archaeologist Elisha Hart, who sacrificed herself to stop the evil Sutekh the Destroyer transferring his mind into hers and destroying the world, the Doctor (George Brind) has decided it is time to fight back against the Other (Thomas Brind). With the TARDIS located in the storage facility vault of 10 Downing Street, the Doctor needs help to get it back, even if it means theft. 18 months ago, during their initial quest for the Other (then known as Xavier), the Doctor and Eddie Parker (Thomas Puttock) met one of the greatest thieves of all time Silent Sam Bobbins (Joseph Critchel) to try and make sure Xavier did not prevent the Vase of Fortunes from being stolen by Bobbins. Unfortunately, Xavier got there first and had stolen the Vase himself. Now, the Doctor meets Bobbins again and they make a plan to break into the Downing Street storage facility, where the Doctor will get his TARDIS back, whilst Bobbins can steal all the items he wants. This move is a very risky one, and the success of it will depend on if the Other, his fellow time meddler Crall-Mox, and Prime Minister John Satmer discover them first. Not to mention that the Other has something, or rather someone, that the Doctor might want to trade for his freedom… but what, or who, is it? And who is John Satmer, really?
