Описание к видео Cephalosporin Antibiotics: 1st to 5th Generation, Mechanism, Side Effects, and Bacterial Targets

Lesson on cephalosporin antibiotics, including similarities and differences between first, second, third, fourth, and fifth generation cephalosporins. Cephalosporins are beta lactam antibiotics that are bacteriocidal in nature through their ability to inhibit cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins. They are used for a variety of different infections, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin infections and meningitis. Side effects of cephalosporin use include skin rash, itching, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea among others. In this lesson, we will discuss the cephalosporin antibiotics in general and examine the similarities and differences between each of the generations of cephalosporins with regards to bacterial coverage.
