Trains at Welshpool Station; soon to be closed - Transperth

Описание к видео Trains at Welshpool Station; soon to be closed - Transperth

In this video we visit Welshpool, a station on the Armadale and Thornlie lines in Perth's south eastern suburbs. We see some four-car Transperth A Series EMU's arriving and departing the station. We then head to the nearby Welshpool Road level crossing where we see some more trains.

Welshpool Station opened in 1889 as one of the original stations on the Armadale Line. The station is a fairly quiet one situated completely within an industrial area; receiving only 116,681 annual passengers in 2013 - 14. The Welshpool Road level crossing is one of five level crossings on the line that will be removed as part of the Victoria Park - Canning Level Crossing Removal Project. The level crossing will be removed by elevating the rail line above the road.

Due to the difficulty in building a new elevated station in close proximity to the nearby Leach Highway overpass and the existing stations low patronage, it's been decided to close Welshpool station permanently as part of the project. It's expected that Welshpool station will close permanently in late-2023 when a major shutdown of the line begins to construct the project.
