New Old Stock 1998 Maspion Cool Mate 9” Box Fan | Kipas Angin Jadul Masih Baru!

Last year, one of my audience asked me to find and buy this Maspion Cool Mate fan, and finally I got it!

Even though the Maspion brand has long been well-known in Indonesia, to be honest, this model is one of the most difficult to find. Especially the New Old Stock ones, even the ones that are used and still in good condition are rarely seen. But, it turns out that the way to get a new one right away is from 1998!

Here’s the Maspion model JF-119 Cool Mate series, which was available in 3 colors (Grey, Blue, Green). As I know, the Cool Mate series only applies to small box fans, starting from sizes 6", 8", 9" and this series has been around since the 80s to the mid-2000s.

Even though it is in new New Old Stock condition, this fan still has signs of "age" such as the box that is half destroyed, a louver motor that frequently convulses, and a bushing that is worn out. However, since this fan is still sealed with a plastic seal, the color and shape of the body are still 100% like new. This fan has 3 speeds, a louver switch, and what's more unique is that there is an orange light in the middle of the grill badge which is really cute!

Apart from that, the fan head can also be directed up and down and on the legs there are bolt/screw holes to function this fan as a wall box fan which facilitates flexibility in use. This BQ fan is also very solid, for a fan from the 90s/2000s.

Performance wise, the wind for a 10" box fan is quite good, not very strong, but sufficient. In fact, it seems like the current Maspion box fan blade delivers bigger and more wind. Even though the wind is not yet a winner, you can guarantee that its motor will be a winner and ready to fight for decades.. It's just that its weakness is in the louver motor which often experiences seizures.

In conclusion, this fan has its own values, starting from a retro model & shape but still suitable for the modern era, a solid BQ, and a strong motor. And of course, fans of the “Maspion, Prestasi Indonesia” era never disappoint.
