What is TotalMix FX?
Every RME audio interface and sound card features TotalMix FX, a comprehensive routing and mixing controller powered by an on-board DSP.

This includes the RME Fireface range (such as the Fireface 802, UCX II, UFX+); the Babyface and Babyface Pro; the RME Digiface and MADIface Series; and the HDSPe range of PCI and PCIe sound cards.

Installed as part of the driver, TotalMix is an extremely powerful tool in the studio, essentially turning your RME interface into a digital mixing console in its own right!

Features include full control over all hardware inputs and outputs; flexible routing capabilities; a master control room section; and the saving and loading of mixer states (snapshots and workstations).

What's more, TotalMix allows you to use any output for latency-free submixes or monitor mixes - complete with EQ, Dynamics, Reverb and Delay effects* - including for your main monitors, and headphone mixes for other musicians.

In fact, there's so much you can do with TotalMix that it can be somewhat overwhelming at first glance! Never fear however, as we take you through all of the main things you need to be aware of when you're first starting out with TMFX - and trust us, once you get to grips with it, you may well find you never want to record without it...

*Note: Dynamics is not included on the Babyface range.
