Chicken Cafreal or Galinha Cafreal is a dish where chicken is marinated in a flavourful green spice paste and fried on a pan. It is served along with fried potatoes, fresh salad, onions rings or caramelized onions, with lemon wedges.

This dish belongs to the Goan Portuguese cuisine and can be made semi gravy or dry. 'Galinha' is Portuguese and means chicken.

Ingredients:
1 kg chicken
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp oil
60 g fresh coriander leaves
1 capsicum
8-10 cloves of garlic
1 inch ginger
4-5 green chillies
1 tsp cumin seeds/jeera
1 tsp fennel seeds/saunf
1 inch cinnamon stick/dalchini
6 cloves/laung
10 black peppercorns/kali miri
2 tsp poppy seeds/khus khus
1/2 tsp turmeric/haldi powder
1 tsp sugar or jaggery
1 tbsp lime juice or vinegar
2 tbsp rum (optional)
Salt, to taste
Water, as needed
