The very late Zephyr #6 in Fort Morgan on 21SEPT2024

This California Zephyr #6 arrived in Fort Morgan at 1328 MDT (17 hrs. and 26 min. late due to a derailment near Reno on top of a 4-hour late departure from Emeryville. P42s #201 & #18 powered the 9-car train to a stop with all but the baggage and dorm/transition/sleeper/office car in reverse order. Car 4 was the active car for passenger service to 6 new passengers. There was a passenger who decided to detrain from car 3 and walk to the north side of the depot and almost missed the train. Although he did pick up the step he launched from car 3, the car door was still wide open. After two false starts, the #6 Zephyr finally departed Fort Morgan for its next stop at McCook, NE on its run to Chicago.
Tonight's #6 Zephyr is running over 4 hours late, but I doubt I will cover it.
The 9th car is a diner running empty headed for rework.
