Lord Hanuman, is also called Vaayuputra, which means son of the wind God. Bhima was born to Kunti, through the mantra of Lord Vaayu. Thus, he is Vaayputra too. In this manner, Lord Hanuman and Bhima are brothers.

There is a story about the meeting of Hanuman and Bhima. When the Pandavas were living in exile after they had lost everything in the game with the Kauravas, Bhima was out one day, roaming in the forest, searching for food. He was very strong, heavily built, and proud. He saw an old, weak-looking monkey, lying on the ground, whose tail was restricting Bhima’s path. He asked the monkey to move and give him way. The monkey, told him that he was very weak and old, and asked Bhima to move his tail. Bhima used all the force he had, but could not move the tail. After struggling a lot, he realised that the monkey was no ordinary being, and prayed to the monkey to reveal his true identity. Lord Hanuman appeared in his real form, and hugged his brother with affection. Bhima realised that arrogance was his enemy. Hanuman assured Bhima that they will get their raajya back, and told him that he will support Pandavas...
