台所を「家庭生活の中心をなすもの」として、実情に応じた環境の中での工夫と改善の心がけを奨励する社会教育映画。改善は主に昔ながらのかまどのある台所について、排水を良くして清潔さを保つこと、採光と換気に注意すること、洋食器や収納棚の活用などが提案される。薪を使った煮炊きがまだ珍しくなかった一方で、衛生的で機能性の高い近代的な台所が広まりつつあった時代の記録としても興味深い。

「フィルムは記録する ―国立映画アーカイブ歴史映像ポータル―」では、1921年から1938年までの間に製作された作品を中心に43作品を新たに公開いたします。今回の公開では、社会的話題から市民生活までをテーマとした多様な作品に加え、重要文化財フィルム『史劇 楠公訣別』を公開しています。国立映画アーカイブでは、今後も随時公開作品を増やしていく予定です。ぜひサイトをお訪ねください。

The fourth edition of this site presents 43 additional titles covering mainly the years from 1921 to 1938. The selection includes a variety of works on topics ranging from social issues to everyday life, while the film designated as Important Cultural Property "Shigeki Nanko Ketsubetsu".
