人口問題、貿易赤字、食料・資源不足などの当時の社会的経済的状況への危機意識を喚起し、挙国一致の生活改善、能率増進、冗費節約、国産愛用、勤倹力行への国民の自覚を促す啓蒙宣伝映画。怠惰と浪費に陥る人々や難局を背負う日本を擬人化した演出場面などを交えつつ、様々な統計を図表や模型を使って解説する。監督の井上麗吉は新進キネマ、撮影の勝本貞友は勝本映画製作所とそれぞれ自身の会社で教育映画製作を行っていた。

「フィルムは記録する ―国立映画アーカイブ歴史映像ポータル―」では、1921年から1938年までの間に製作された作品を中心に43作品を新たに公開いたします。今回の公開では、社会的話題から市民生活までをテーマとした多様な作品に加え、重要文化財フィルム『史劇 楠公訣別』を公開しています。国立映画アーカイブでは、今後も随時公開作品を増やしていく予定です。ぜひサイトをお訪ねください。

The fourth edition of this site presents 43 additional titles covering mainly the years from 1921 to 1938. The selection includes a variety of works on topics ranging from social issues to everyday life, while the film designated as Important Cultural Property "Shigeki Nanko Ketsubetsu".
