These are images of 4D-Flow MRI of the heart. We are seeing blood moving through the areas of the heart and aortic system. The red areas on the screen indicate the areas of the aorta that are weaker and may at some point need repair. This technology could be used to cut down on the number of unnecessary open-heart surgeries while also identifying and targeting those who are at highest risk and need it most. Provided by Alex Barker, PhD (Northwestern University).
