This 1993 metal ballad belonging to the Romanian hard rock band Iris was created by Cristi Minculescu and Dan Alex Sîrbu. The musical line has an ascending structure, supporting the deep thematic presented by the lyrics. "Iris, Don't Go Away" begins with a melancholic and sad background created by the still of the night and the clouds carried slowly by wind. The rain is another element that appears and it increases the resignation that covers the artist's soul. He is a drifter, always running on a desolated road to reach an unknown boundary and always having on his mind the face of the sweetheart he lost. As the chorus suggests, the only hope for the artist is Iris, his spiritual star. He ceaselessly askes Iris not to go away, and not to leave him without one of his last meanings of existence. "Iris, Don't Go Away" was first released on the group's fifth LP, "Iris 1993". A live version of the song appears on the 1997 anniversary album "Iris 20 Years". An unplugged piano version was released in 2003, on "IRIS 4Motion" 4 CD project. Here we have a video that contains a live performance of "Iris, Don't Go Away", recorded at the 1993 edition of "Christmas Rock" Festival. The video also contains some early 90's photos with the band.
