The Saikyō Line is one of the core commuting routes of greater Tokyo, connecting Ōmiya in Saitama, the government offices along the Tōhoku Shinkansen corridor, Akabane, and Ikebukuro. Service through operates on both ends - to Kawagoe at the northern end, and along the Yamanote Freight tracks in the south to the Rinkai Line and Sōtetsu network. Officially, there is no actual line designated as the Saikyō Line, but the local tracks along the Shinkansen between Akabane and Ōmiya, officially a branch of the Tōhoku Main Line, as well as the Akabane Line, are effectively the trunk corridor of the line.

The Rinkai Line, made famous for its excessively long official line name designation, is a rapid transit line running from Ōsaki in the west to Shin-Kiba in the east. Forming the non-JR portion of the original freight line between Chiba and Tokyo (the eastern part of which is now the Keiyō Line), it is mostly underground, except at the ends.

This video features clips from along the Yamanote Line, Tōhoku Branch Line, Saitama Railway Museum, and Rinkai Line.
