English translation below. Merano è un luogo speciale nel cuore dell’Alto Adige e ad innamorarsene fu già la principessa Sissi! E' visitata tutto l’anno. Gli abitanti sono in buona parte di madrelingua tedesca. Il centro storico, pulito e ordinato, è un bell’ invito a fare due passi tra gli eleganti edifici, in stile liberty, o sotto i portici e gli archi della via commerciale, dove, al riparo da neve e dal sole, ci si può rilassare tra gli odori di pasticcerie e le vetrine di marchi famosi. Fino al 1913, i Portici non erano interrotti dall'incrocio via Cassa di Risparmio / via Galilei ed erano quindi i portici più lunghi del Tirolo. Nel periodo dell’Avvento questo luogo si riempie di incanto. Merano è la città delle passeggiate: i viali odorosi ed i lussureggianti giardini che costeggiano il Passirio sono un invito a vivere la città ed approfittare di un clima mite tutto l’anno. La storia di Merano è la storia di una ricercata stazione climatica che inizia nel XIX secolo. Quando l’imperatrice Elisabetta d’Austria e, dopo di lei, anche i nobili e gli intellettuali di tutta Europa scelsero la città per i loro soggiorni di cura, a Merano sorsero eleganti hotel e alcuni palazzi dell’Art Nouveau tra i più belli di tutto l’arco alpino, come il Pavillon des Fleurs, il Kurhaus e il teatro Puccini. Se vi fermate più a lungo a Merano è necessario mettere in conto una mezza giornata ai bellissimi Giardini di Castel Trauttmansdorff. Si tratta una magnifica oasi fiorita a 45 minuti dal centro di Merano. Ci si arriva seguendo il Sentiero di Sissi, in auto o in autobus ( linea 4 che parte dalla stazione ferroviaria). Non dimenticare di concludere un buon pasto con un buon dessert . Per chi non l'avesse mai fatto prima è la volta buona di assaggiare un dolce tipico: un delizioso strudel con mele dell' Alto Adige, pinoli ed uvetta, accompagnato da una pallina di gelato!
