Fishers petition to catch baby eels that can sell for $5,000/kg

Fishing for elvers is lucrative work because the baby eels sell for $5,000 a kilo overseas, but the Maritime fishery was shut this season over concerns about sustainability and safety. The heated issue has lead to threats, arrests and angry calls to restart the season.
