My so-called midlife crisis | ARIOCARPUS

What can I say? I went slightly insane over the past year and bought a bunch of Ariocarpus, which means I must love them right? But my feelings for them are mixed in a strange way. Ariocarpus are not a plant that bring the warm and fuzzies, and for that reason, they remain as mysterious as they look. Everything about them is slow - seedlings take forever to grow, adult plants take forever to grow, seedpods take 6 months to emerge after pollination. They truly teach a lesson in patience.

Cookie and I have been away from YouTube for a little while. The summer heat got to us and then the mosquitoes... Then life got in the way of making and editing videos. On top of all the health issues the Cookie developed over the past year, she was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism a few weeks ago. I knew that something was off and indeed there was. She's now on thyroid medication and we're slowly watching to see how she responds and if any other complications rear its ugly head on the way. I guess the lesson in patience taught by the Ariocarpus applies to everything else in life where instant gratification is not a possibility.
