The Pippa Project - Honda S2000 Powered Haynes Roadster - Part 1: Introduction + Overheating Engine

Welcome to the Pippa Project. The Pippa Project is a series of videos documenting the "getting it all back to working properly and making a few upgrades along the way" story of my Haynes Roadster fitted with a Honda S2000 engine. Who happens to be called Pippa... The Haynes Roadster is based on the Lotus 7 and is similar to the more common Caterham 7. Pippa is often confused with a kit car due to her appearance. This is because the Caterham 7 shape has been copied by so many kit car manufacturers. However the Haynes Roadster, albeit another 7 clone, is built from scratch using a set of blueprints rather than a factory made kit. The 7 is a lightweight sports car made iconic by its low weight and agile handling. I built the Haynes Roadster at age 19 using a Honda Super Blackbird engine. However I wanted the S2000 engine but could not afford one. When the Blackbird engine failed it was the ideal moment to upgrade to the S2000 engine. Pippa has been in storage for quite a few years and has only just come out this year. Project Pippa starts with a quick intro then it straight into fixing the most serious problem. She has on overheating engine. This turns out to be caused by sludge in the cooling system and ultimately leads to a blown S2000 head gasket. I show how to flush a cooling system and diagnose a blown head gasket in this episode.
