JB10 : WATERFALL WOODS ON ENCAUSTIC HOTPLATE
By combining hotplate, painting iron, rubber stamp, sponges and tissue, John Buckland takes us into a wondrous waterfall woodland. The encaustic wax colours used in this way open the door to such a wide creative vista. The techniques are not difficult. What might you express if given this setup of time and tools? The magic of the encaustic arts is found by exploring as you create. Allow the wax some voice, but always know that everything is changeable!

John Buckland is a master of Encaustic Hotplate work, especially onto card and other thinner surfaces and substrates. This clip is second of the eleven demonstrated by John Buckland, and taken from the Exploring Ideas DVD filmed in 2005 by Michael Bossom.

Waterfalls can be painted using an iron too. Watch Michael Bossom do just that here:    • A3 WATERFALL by Michael
