FORT KOCHI (Kathakali Performance) || Foreigners in Kerala, India Vlog

Come to Fort Kochi, an important place for the history of Kerala (India) with Dutch, British and Portoguese colonial architecture. As a foreign traveller, you can attend Kathakali ancient performances, a must do for tourists in Kerala. The price ticket was 1000rs = $ 12.00 per person

"Katha" means story/traditional tale and "Kali" means performance/play. It represents the fight between good and bad, the evil. The Kathakali performance is a classical dance with vocal performers, a choreography, music and facial gestures with a lot of eye movements. We highly recommend you to go one hour before the performance starts so you can see the passion and care actors have with their work starting with the makeup.
Thanks to the makeup, where only natural colours are used, we can recognise the characters - there are 7 types of basic make up, for example yellow is associated with monks, mendicants and women while green with red lips is for noble characters or philosopher-kings.

Actors take years to learn this dance and only after years of practice can perform on a stage. Mostly they don't speak but use a sign language with hand signs. Through their body, face and eye movements they can express the mood and their emotions.

We will take you to the charming Fort Kochi, its famous fishing nets, the incredible, the Paradesi Synagogue, Mattancherry Temple, Jetty, The street art and more interesting places.

The Paradesi Synagogue is the oldest active synagogue in the Commonwealth. Paradesi comes from the term "foreigners" because it was built by Portuguese - speaking Jews. You can even find the famous Murano (from Venice, Italy) glass inside and we found so interesting that the synagogue shared the wall with the Mattancherry Temple.
