Super Mario Bros. 2 (SNES) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

Описание к видео Super Mario Bros. 2 (SNES) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

A playthrough of Nintendo's 1993 platformer for the Super Nintendo, Super Mario Bros. 2 (as it appeared in Super Mario All-Stars).

In this video I play through all twenty stages without using warp zones.

The story behind Super Mario Bros. 2 is pretty well-known already, but in case you need a short recap: the original SMB2 (known as The Lost Levels:    • Super Mario Bros. 2 (Famicom) Playthr...   ) was judged to be too difficult and too derivative to be worth releasing in western markets. Nintendo then decided to repurpose a Japanese license-based game that they created in 1987 (Yume Koujou: Doki Doki Panic) as Mario's next adventure. With some refinements made to the gameplay and a shiny new facelift, it launched late 1988 in the US as Super Mario Bros. 2 (   • Super Mario Bros. 2 (NES) Playthrough...   ). In 1992 it also finally saw a Famicom release under the name Super Mario USA.

The game went on to be a massive success, clearly. The choice of characters, the more free-form gameplay, and the cartoony aesthetic were all welcome changes that made the game feel more modern than the original Super Mario Bros. (   • Super Mario Bros. (NES) Playthrough -...   ).

The 16-bit All-Stars update is every bit as good as the NES game, too. The overhauled graphics and sound do a nice job of reinvigorating the game for a new generation. It's all so bright and cheerful, and it plays just as well as it did on the NES.

For anyone that hasn't yet experienced the black sheep of the 8-bit Mario games, the SNES update is a good place to start. But regardless of whether you play it on the NES or SNES, it's an excellent game that has long since earned its status as a classic.

Go Team Luigi!
