Harvest Time on the Cider Coast Episode 4: Overhiser Orchards

Описание к видео Harvest Time on the Cider Coast Episode 4: Overhiser Orchards

Fifth-generation farmer Allan Overhiser in South Haven, Michigan, is on one of the last weeks for this year's apple harvest. In this episode, Allan walks us through his Winesap trees, which bear an apple that was traditionally used for applesauces but also makes for great cider.

At Virtue Cider, we source apples from our neighbor orchards that reside on what we call the "Cider Coast." Southwest Michigan is renowned for its fruit-bearing lands, much of which is home to generations-old apple orchards. In our Harvest Time on the Cider Coast series, we check in with some of our farm partners to see how their apple crops are shaping up. After all, it is the variance and complexity of the Michigan apples grown in this region that make for true proper farmhouse ciders.
