This video contains:

Level 1- Caustic Projection Optical Element

Level 10- Diffractive Optical Element: The patches of microstructure on the surface of this transparent plastic are far field holograms- transmission holograms, but with the image at infinity. Designed to produced images via constructive and deconstructive interference of passing coherent laser light. However, the images can also be seen by looking through the film at a point source of light, although they appear a bit blurry as the white light is spread into a diffraction spectrum rainbow of colors.

Level 20- Magnetic Seal & Ball

Level 30- Spooky Natural Mineral Fluorescence

Level 40- Aurora Laser Projector

Level 50- Sonic Photonic Visualizer: a laser reflects from a small mirror mounted on a stretched rubber membrane which allows the projection of complex curves produced by the deformation of the membrane from sound waves. Yet another amazing kit from the VSauce team at (thecuriositybox) which uses a balloon as the membrane for the top of the “drum”. The membrane is most sensitive to sound waves in the bass and midrange frequencies and I got the best reaction with my Bluetooth speaker playing Moon Flower by Tahüm- a snippet of which is featured here.

Level 60- Kinetic L Form Lamp

Level 70- Buda Ball: my favorite powered levitation device- and the only system I know of that will suspend in a horizontal direction as seen in this video. A spherical magnet is pinned 1.5 centimeters from the surface of its hardwood base. Within the base is an innovative control system with adjustable electromagnet coils in a feedback loop with Hall effect sensors (I assume) which allow for fine tuning of a magnetic field to precisely balance the pull of gravity- even when the base is in a vertical orientation! Another amazing design by the Flyte team.

Level 80- CUMOS Cube

Level 90- Noon Cannon: a working replica of a historical novelty- a meridian cannon where, upon 12 o’clock noon, the sun’s rays are concentrated through a precisely placed lens igniting a fuse which then discharges a miniature cannon. According to Wikipedia, in the 18th century meridian cannons could be found in European parks where they were fired off daily to indicate noontime to the surrounding townships. The noon time shot is captured in slow motion and the rest of the video is time-lapse from 10AM to 3PM where the observant will note that I did not have the cannon pointing due north as it should be (off by about 15 degrees).

Level 100- Floating Hourglass Puzzle: famous physics puzzle- why does the hourglass not start rising right away?
