The best way to experience the route to Scafell Pike is via Lingmell. This is an excellent route from Wast Water offering fantastic views compared to the Brown Tongue walk.
After summiting Lingmell there is an easy path to join the main Scafell Pike track. A rocky ascent up to Scafell Pike takes us up to the highest point in England before moving on to the main event, Lord's Rake. This grade one scramble is for the experienced walker. It is little visited and both stages are a challenge. Once complete, the hike to Sca Fell is thankfully short but great. Sca Fell, although much less visited is the second highest peak in England. From here, we work our way down to the campsite at Wast Water.
Although this is a tough walk, it is absolutely amazing and well worth the energy to have such great memories.
