Repotting and Trimming Roots of Astrophytum, Ariocarpus and Lophophora

So I repotted part of my collection and trimmed the roots. For astrophytum I trim back about 1/2 of the taproot and remove the fine roots. For ariocarpus I only cut back the tip of the taproot. They are slow growing and cutting more isn't gonna help. Hanazono on cactiguide has been growing for a long time and has experimented with the amount to trim the taproots. With the lophophora I could cut back more but decided to just cut the tips of the taproots.

The POC harvesting lophophora had interesting differences in the taproot development. The harvested lopho had a very small root system while the unharvested had a much larger and thicker taproot. It may be an effect of the harvest. Rather than spend energy growing the root system it spent energy growing the flesh?
