Hitching A 5th Wheel RV to your tow vehicle doesn't have to be a scary process as long as you follow these simple steps.

Missing one step when connecting your 5th wheel RV to your tow vehicle can be extremally costly, AND EMBARRASSING. We have many checklists, but our "Hitching" checklist is probably our most important. When we're going through the steps of hitching our 5th wheel RV to our truck, we always take our time and go through every step on our checklist.

HITCHING A 5TH WHEEL TRAILER is NOT the time to rush through the process and miss steps!

Our complete travel day hitching checklist ( based on a checklist we downloaded from another RVing Channel)
• RV – Stabilizers to HITCH HEIGHT
• TRUCK – TPMS ON
• TRUCK – Tailgate DOWN
• TRUCK – Open Hitch Latch
• TRUCK – Back ALMOST to pin-box
• RV – Adjust Kingpin height to proper hitch height of truck
• TRUCK – Back truck into Kingpin
• TRUCK – Visually check KINGPIN is secure in hitch
• TRUCK – LOCK BAR IS LOCKED
• TRUCK – PUT PIN IN LOCK BAR
• TRUCK – Connect Electrical cord and Breakaway cable
• TRUCK – CLOSE TAILGATE
• RV – Lower RV with Front landing gear to pull test height
• TRUCK – Tow/Haul Mode
• TRUCK – Mirrors EXTENDED
• TRUCK – PULL TEST
• TRUCK – Adjust suspension to 55 psi
• TRUCK – Check RV brakes adjusted and RV is connected to Ford system
• TRUCK – Set parking brake
• RV – Retract ALL landing gear
• RV – Remove and stow wheel chocks and landing gear blocks
• RV – Check and close all storage doors and lock
• TRUCK – Lights on / Rear Camera working
• TRUCK – Validate TPMS reads all 6 tires and validate pressure / temp
• TRUCK / RV – Verify all lights are operable (signals; brake; reverse)
• TRUCK / RV – Full Walkaround
• TRUCK – Reset Trip Meter
