Welcome to another Spotting With Sam video, this one is quite special!

On Art Deco weekend of 2026, Steam Incorporated (and the GVR DBR1254) went to Napier to help celebrate the 1920's and 30's era Art Deco styling of buildings, fashion, and motor vehicles. Steam Incorporated helped fit the theme by bring their 111 year old Ab class steam locomotive number 608 and their veteran diesel locomotive DA1410 and their fleet of vintage red passengers cars. DBR1254 also tagged along, as she's currently on loan to Steam Inc because I imagine it's while DA1431 is down in the South Island.

This video is quite substantially longer than something I'd normally upload, so I wouldn't put it past you if you don't sit and watch the whole thing (at least in one sitting!) but hopefully you enjoy what you can see, as a lot of effort has gone in by a lot of people to make this possible.

Massive shoutout to the lads of whom I chased with, you guys are legends! What a great trip it was!

Also a huge hand to Steam Incorporated and GVR, what a great weekend you put on in the rail side of things, absolutely superb.



PLEASE NOTE! The shots taken in the KiwiRail Napier yard were taken WITH PERMISSION. I was apart of the cleaning crew to help clean the train at the end of the day with the rest of the lads I was travelling with and I had my camera on me one night while doing so (didn't have my microphone though, so they're a little broken up by wind). DO NOT enter the rail corridor or KiwiRail yards without proper authorization, or permission. Trespassing is illegal.
