This section of the Timberland Hills Segment of the Ice Age Trail starts at the Timberland Hills Ski Area Trailhead on County Road H (which is also 3rd Street) and ends at Boyd Road. Timberland Hills is a popular cross country skiing area. There are many crisscrossing trails in this area that intersect the IAT. The area is also popular for mountain bikers. The Ice Age Trail follows a number of forest roads through this stretch. This day was mostly sunny and cool with the temperature around 60 degrees and light winds. This hike started at about 11:30AM.

0:00 - Begin hike at the County Road H (also known as 3rd Street) Trailhead. This is the Timberland Hills West Ski Trails parking lot
01:20 - Follow a spur trail from the trailhead parking lot back to the main Ice Age Trail (IAT)
02:15 - Resume following the main IAT
04:05 - Cross County Road H (3rd Street)
04:25 - Begin following Skinner Road (also known as 30th Avenue). This is a gravel road
13:45 - Leave the gravel road and begin following the edge of a hay field
17:10 - The trail exits the hay field and enters the woods and now follows an old forest road. The IAT is now passing through the Timberland Hills recreational area. There are many trails (used for XC skiing, mountain biking and walking) that criss-cross the IAT through this area. The IAT though is well marked and easy to follow
54:30 - The Ice Age Trail turns left onto a different forest road. Continue through the Timberland Hills area to the next trailhead
01:01:00 - Wetland view
01:13:10 - Our hike ends the Timberland Hills Ski Area at the Boyd Road Trailhead

Total hiking distance was about 3.2-miles. This section of the IANST is part of the 10.9-mile Timberland Hills Segment. The next segment of the IAT heading eastbound will be the Grassy Lake Segment. The hiking direction along the Ice Age Trail recorded in these videos is from west to east across the State of Wisconsin.

Recorded on September 7, 2024.
