On October 18th, 1967, a 76-year-old woman named Annie Coughlan was found wandering through the countryside near Huntington, Vermont. She refused to cooperate with law enforcement, and repeatedly told them, "It's in my house. It won't go away."

Doctors noticed symptoms of pneumonia, and she had been living out in the fields for several days. She was registered to an address at Huntington but refused to go back home, citing that a dark entity was living in her attic.

She was placed in a mental health institution in Montpelier, where special Harvard psychiatrists traveled from Boston to question her, all of whom have refused to speak about her ever since.

After decades of freedom of information requests, other academics have finally managed to get hold of her story. This is the account Annie told mental health professionals shortly after being found.
