Strawberry Shortcake

I will show you step by step how to make this delicious easy strawberry shortcake.

Recipe for the shortcakes came from Fannie Farmer 12th edition cookbook.

Recipe:
2 cups of all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 Tablespoons granulated cane sugar
5 Tablespoons of unsalted butter
2/3 cup milk

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Butter a cookie sheet with unsalted butter.

Mix the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a bowl. Cut the butter into pieces and work into the flour mixture with a pastry blender or your hands until it looks like coarse meal.

Slowly stir in the milk. Turn out onto a floured board and knead for a minute or two. Roll and pat dough out 3/4 inch thick. Cut it into rounds using a biscuit cutter. Arrange rounds on a cookie sheet and bake them for 10-12 minutes.

Split when warm, fill with sugared fruit or berries and serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
