In 1862, under King Tu Duc, in order to wish for an heir, the king was afraid that the word "Thien" would offend Heaven, so he changed the word "Thien Mu" to "Linh Mu" (sacred midwife). It was not until 1869 that the king allowed the name Thien Mu to be reused as before. Therefore, in folklore, people still use both names when referring to this temple.
Legend of Thien Mu Pagoda
Legend has it that, when Lord Nguyen Hoang entered the position of foreman of Thuan Hoa province and governor of Quang Nam, he personally went to examine the terrain here in order to prepare for the expansion of business and construction of the Giang Son for the Nguyen family. after that.
