🎶This is one of the best songs I’ve ever written - about coming to the end of drink and drug addiction, looking for a way out and realising at the end - ‘I can’t go back to life on easy street, I won’t go back to life on easy street..’ I never did go back either, not once. 3 years, 8 months and 2 weeks clean and sober. And to perform it on an acoustic guitar outside camden station again holds such significance, as that’s where I’d sit 10 years ago - with my acoustic guitar with old broken strings, drinking all day and smoking crack, wondering how to find a way out of the gutter. To go back there and do it clean, with all I’ve built in the past 3 years holding me up, and with Ciaran beside me - my fellow sober brother and inspiration for getting clean. You can’t beat that feeling. And another 3 years we could be an album chart topping force to be reckoned with, and we won’t have to be busking (although I’ll still do it for the craic and to cause a scene 👌) - mark my words: WE DO RECOVER 🙌
