Andal Kauthuvam -

On the eve of Margazhi, the auspicious month in the Tamil calender, we present Andal Kauthuvam. Andal, also known as Godha or Nachiyar is a 9th Century Tamil poet, the only woman poet among the twelve Alwars (Vaishnavite saint poets ). Her poems, collectively called Thiruppavai, is recited every day during this auspicious month. This Kauthuvam describes her birth and her life which was totally dedicated to Lord Ranganatha.
