Silver carp go a long way in finding food when the amount of phytoplankton in the pond is significantly reduced.

During this time the silver carp swallows large amounts of water and eats phytoplankton.

During this time it needs extra oxygen.
That is why there is a possibility of oxygen deficiency.
Due to such various reasons, the growth of Catla and Bighead is significantly hindered.

রুই-কাতলা জাতীয় মাছের চাষে উপরের স্তরের মাছ হিসেবে কাতলা, সিলভার কার্প এবং বিগহেড ছাড়া হয়।
এই তিনটিই উপরের স্তরের মাছ হওয়া সত্ত্বেও দেখা যায় যে সিলভার কার্প এর কারনে বিগহেড এবং বিগহেডের কারনে কাতলা প্রতিযোগিতায় হেরে যায়।

এর কারণ হচ্ছে সিলভার কার্প সবচাইতে সূক্ষ্ম ফুলকা ধারণ করে; তারপরে বিগহেড এবং তারপরেই কাতলা।

পুকুরে ফাইটোপ্লাংকটন এর পরিমাণ যথেষ্ট কমে গেলে সিলভার কার্প মাছ আহারের সন্ধানে অনেক বেশি পথ অতিক্রম করে ।
এই সময়ে সিলভার কার্প বেশি পরিমাণ পানি ছেঁকে ফাইটোপ্লাংটন খেয়ে ফেলে।
এই সময়ে তার অতিরিক্ত অক্সিজেনের দরকার হয়ে থাকে।
সেই কারণেও অক্সিজেনের ঘাটতি হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা সৃষ্টি হয়।
এমনই বিবিধ কারণে কাতলা, বিগহেড এদের বৃদ্ধি উল্লেখযোগ্যভাবে বাধা প্রাপ্ত হয়।
